Boot Camp for Border Collies | 3 hour workshop
Do you have a naughty collie dog in need of reform?
This workshop is for the following collie doggy delinquents:
- Collies who dislocate your arm when on the lead!
- Selectively ‘deaf’ collies, whose recall is 100% except when [fill in the blank!]
- Collies who thieve other people’s ball out on a walk and won’t give them back!
- Muggers of humans, who love to leave a muddy paw or two on everyone they meet!
Don’t worry, this is not my first rodeo.
I’ve seen and helped many collie owners with these problems, and many more!
During this workshop you will learn:
- How to achieve reliable loose lead walking
- Why recall can be difficult for your collie, and how to overcome it together
- How to manage your collie’s arousal level when other collies are playing fetch
- What great social greetings look like, and how to achieve them
The training will take place in a ‘real world’ setting.
There will be plenty of breaks for the dogs, and they may be expected to wait in their vehicles whilst other dogs are working.
NB: Get in touch if that might be a problem for your collie.
My dog is so easily distracted and doesn’t do well in a group class – can I spectate instead?
You will learn lots of valuable information by both taking part with your dog, or watching as a spectator too.
Where is the workshop held?
The workshop will be held at Paws in the Park, Burrough Court, Melton Mowbray. The site is a premium 2-acre secure dog field for exclusive use with 6ft fencing, and has toilets, access to water, and parking facilities.
We will go ahead if light rain/ wind is forecast, but you would be notified of cancellation in the event of very bad weather.
About your instructor
I’ve belonged to 7 amazing collies, bred 15 talented collie puppies over two litters, and fostered 3 troubled collies before finding them their forever homes.
Not to mention how many collies and their owners I’ve helped throughout my 15 years as a dog trainer. I guess you’d say I’m a bit of a fan of the breed!
Border Collies and their crosses can be amazing dogs. But they can also be really hard work too!
That’s why I help collie owners how to teach their dog brilliant life skills (loose lead walking/ recall/ social skills) so they can enjoy walking anywhere without the worry of them overreacting to other dogs.
