From Fixated To Focused: Recalls With Your Border Collie

August 13 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

£25.00 – £50.00

This workshop is for Border Collies & Collie Crosses who find movement distracting:

  • People using ball throwers are your worst nightmare!
  • You avoid parks where kids are playing football as your collie will inevitably want to play!
  • Even if you don’t throw sticks, your collie is happy to train other people to throw them and ignore you!
  • They’re too busy searching for squirrels or birds to chase to have any time to listen to you!
  • You’re on edge if you see joggers or cyclists as you know your collie might dash off to chase!

These nosey-rosey’s can be anything from young dogs to middle-aged adults. They need a bit more training and understanding to help them reach their potential.

During this workshop we’ll be covering..

  • How to control your collie when movement catches their attention
  • Recall games to strengthen your connection to your collie
  • Collie flavoured reinforcement and how to use it effectively
  • Concept of permission and using it to gain more control of our collies
  • How to create a training plan to reach your on and off lead goals

My dog is so easily distracted and doesn’t do well in a group class – can I spectate instead?

You will learn lots of valuable information by both taking part with your dog, or watching as a spectator too.

Where is the workshop held?

The workshop will be held outside in my fenced training field. We will go ahead if light rain/ wind is forecast, but you would be notified of cancellation in the event of very bad weather.

About your instructor

I’ve belonged to 7 amazing collies, bred 15 talented collie puppies over two litters, and fostered 3 troubled collies before finding them their forever homes.

Not to mention how many collies and their owners I’ve helped throughout my 15 years as a dog trainer. I guess you’d say I’m a bit of a fan of the breed!

Border Collies and their crosses can be amazing dogs. But they can also be really hard work too!

That’s why I help collie owners how to teach their dog a brilliant recall so they can enjoy walking anywhere without the worry of them overreacting to joggers/ cyclists or other dogs.

Join me for this workshop and I’ll help you achieve this too!
