Fish Star Biscuit Recipe

My lovely dog walker Clint has an equally lovely wife who made my dogs these delicious biscuits for a Christmas present. All the dogs thought they were fantastic, and were very keen to train for them over the holidays!

They also last for a couple of weeks when stored appropriately – in a tin or similar airtight container. Probably more suitable for training at home than out and about because of the crumbs when you break them up.

Recipe:

4 cups white flour

1 cup water

1/2 cup vegetable oil

6 ounces tuna, drained

1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Combine all ingredients.
  3. Turn out on floured surface and knead until firm, a little more flour may be needed.
  4. Roll to required thickness, cut with cookie cutter, or pizza wheel.
  5. Bake for 30 minutes, (or until required colour) then turn off heat, let biscuits stand in oven for until hard and crispy.

NB: You can use any fish really; I used pilchards and tuna this time but have also used cooked mackerel.
