Top 3 Dog Harnesses

three dogs wearing perfect fit harnesses

I’ve tried many harnesses, and seen many different versions on the dogs that I teach. Not all harnesses are created equal!

Many on the market are uncomfortable for the dogs and they dislike having them put on or wearing them. Which makes going out for a walk a misery rather than a joy 🙁

It doesn’t have to be like that. A comfortable harness is like a comfortable piece of underwear – you shouldn’t be aware that you’re wearing it. When you find the right one, you’ll find your dog doesn’t mind wearing it which makes a BIG difference to daily life.

Plus using a harness which has 2 points of contact – one on the chest and one on the back – can create great loose lead walking too. If you want to master loose lead training, check out my online walk with me course here.

For now, here’s my top 3 dog harnesses for you to choose from:

  1. Dog Games Perfect Fit Harness
  2. Tellington TTouch Harness
  3. Mekuti Harness

If you’re lucky enough to live close to Bristol, then may I recommend you pop into the Mutty Professor in Bedminster for a harness fitting? Excellent range and very knowledgable, dog-friendly staff 🙂

Does your dog hate their harness?

You’re not alone – or shall I say your dog isn’t! I frequently hear from people whose dogs hate their harness. They run away, hide or even nip when the harness comes out.

So I put together my top tips to help your dog to feel happier wearing a harness here.

Today I’m grateful for improvement in dog training equipment such as harnesses – our dog’s comfort is becoming a much bigger factor in designs for them which I’m thrilled at 🙂
